Family Matters
The primary objective of the trip is to join David (our second son) and Steph for the dedication of their daughter Sophie on Sunday, 21st October 2018. This will give us time to be with the family in Johannesburg and then proceed to Pilansberg for four nights beginning on Monday, 22nd.
We set out from Simbithi on Thursday, 17th October and head straight for the Howick hospital where we visit Renette’s uncle John who has been struggling of late. Happily he is improving and at the hospital we meet up with daughter Gail who is out from England. After dropping the Hwange photos off with Chris James in PMB, we overnight with Mark and Michelle in PMB.
On Friday morning we head for Jo’burg which we reach at 2pm moving straight to David’s home in Fourways. On Saturday John and Sherri-Linn fly up midday from Cape Town. Early rains are beginning and the sky is typically Highveld with vast clouds, lightning, thunder and a little hail. Scattered downpours occur across the city.
Sunday is dedication and then party day at the Hunter’s for little Sophie.
On Monday morning we visit the Monte Casino Bird Park which is very well run and presented.
At 1pm Renette and I set off for Pilansberg.
